Nuts Toasted Pine Nuts
In 2000 Australian Nut Processors developed and launched
a range of pre toasted cooking nuts. This development came
from research that told us that people want to save time
in the kitchen and like products that could save them time. Ducks Nuts Toasted Slivered Almonds
and Ducks Nuts Toasted Pine nuts are available at leading
supermarkets and are
clearly identified on the shelf by our eye catching
royal blue pack.
The product is packed in foil for added freshness and
the nuts are dry toasted i.e. we do not use any oil
in the cooking
process.
Toasted nuts are great in salads, risottos, salads, sprinkled
over desserts or eaten as a snack. For great recipe

Alternatively
some people prefer to toast their own. To do this :

Pre-heat oven to about 180°C.

Place nuts evenly on an oven tray.

Place in oven for
approximately 5 minutes or until nuts turn a golden
brown.

Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Generally fan forced ovens toast
nuts quicker than conventional ovens.
TIP :
Ensure that you keep an
eye on the toasting
process. Once the nuts start to turn a golden
colour they will all
do so very quickly.
If a cake specifies to use nuts
on the top do not pre toast the nuts (use raw nuts)
otherwise you
will be
cooking them
twice and they can burn. |
